131 Utah Seniors Land College Football Scholarships in 2010

If you're a regular reader of the Utah High School Football Huddle, you know I love the coverage that the Deseret News provides when it comes to high school sports throughout the state.

Today, I want to share with you some great research by the newspaper that summarizes how many senior athletes received athletic scholarships during the 2010-11 school year.

According to the report, 131 senior football players received scholarships last year.  32 of the players were awarded Division I scholarships, while the remaining 99 players fell outside of Division I.  Last season, 2,253 seniors participated in the sport.

Alex Gerke Takes Over as Granger High Football Coach

Less than two months before the start of the Utah high school football season, Granger High School head football coach Doyle Holt is out and former assistant Alex Gerke is in.

Holt resigned suddenly after leading the school to only four wins in twenty games, including a 1-9 record last year.
